Figured I'd post my car and have it doccumented finally.
Ive had this car for the past 7 years and counting and have been daily driving / drfting it for 6 years. From stock power to boosted to now built with ITBs, this car has never let me down.

June 2024 - October 2024
After a long year of not doing much, Finally added my NOPRO canards to the front bumper and just spent most of the year drifting and streeting. Motor developed low oil pressure at Staggered Motorsports Featival. Decided to pull it and have my buddy drop in a complete MSM motor with some bigger injectors and go back to the boosted life. Forgot how much fun having a turbo in these cars is.
this things rad!
April / May 2024:
Finally got to test out the car with the new Hummelink ITBs and the 3.9 gearing. Long story short, I love it. Car feels well rounded now and isn’t banging off limiter off in 2nd! TEs fit good with the help of some spacers. Also unexpectedly drove Final Bout SSE and got 4th place so that was a nice little weekend surprise. Unfortunately car developed a slight miss and needs some maintenance/TLC and a Túne. Hoping to have that all done sooner than later and hoping to get this to a dyno to wake her up a bit!
Been following the last couple years. Makes me hopeful I can make my car less ugly, more style and hopefully drive more. Just tough as a broke college student lol.
I want to be you when I grow up
Some off season updates (2024):
Made the impulse decision at the end of January to upgrade the ITBs and that started the rabbit hole lol. While waiting for my new set of Hummelink ITBs to come in (Still waiting), I sourced a 3.9 diff from YAJ, and swapped my Tomei 2way into it. The hope is that now my second gear won’t be as short so I’m not bouncing off rev limiter with my six speed anymore. My buddy Jordan also sold me a nice set of TE37 SL's so now I can say I’m part of the TE37 SUPREMACY.
I also happened to buy a 1991 240sx hatch that had a s15 front end I removed, so that’s been taking most of my time as I wait for parts for the Miata to be back on the road. That will probably get its own little thread once there’s something to actually share haha.
man....y'all fancy with your 1.9 itb setups lol. Pray to god of nopro. this car fucks
Here's a 15 minute vid I put together of my FB6 driving. Its raw drifting footage, pretty boring but I know some people like it / like hearing the ITBs.
so much respect for this
Final Bout 6 (Sept 2023): New livery installed, new wheels arrived, and we were off to WI! Trailered the car to Chicago to street drive around and do all the pre meet stuff. Car was running flawless. Drove USAir like it owed me money. Cam sensor was starting acting up so we replaced it and it cleared right up. Words cannot express how happy I was to drive FB6 in this car.
Summer 2023 Highlights: At some point, I took the livery off because I didnt like how loud it was. Wanted something more subtle.
May - August 2023: We got the call to drive FB6. Since we're poor, we decided to help out at our local event, Lock City Drift, so we could preserve our cars for that event. I happened to drive a few events within these few months I had off and drove Palmer Motorsports park for a RSD event, and I drove a round of street series hosted by Lock City. Only hiccup from the car was a bad altenator from driving in the rain haha.
May 2023 Final Bout SSE: Street drove 10 hours to Summit Point in WV. Had a new livery installed for this event. Car never skipped a beat, drove hard all weekend, and drove home. Got 6th place so we didnt know if we would get accpected to go to FB6. Had a great time nonetheless.
March 2023: The season is starting up, aero is freshly painted, 15/16 staggared demon cambers and its time to hit the track! We got accpected for Final Bout SSE this year so we kept it on track as much as we could so we wouldnt have to do much before that event.
Winter 2022 - 2023: Winter was in full swing and it was time to get some aero painted and clean up my bay. Tucked as may wires as I could while keeping them accessable. Sanded my aero at work on my down time and got everything painted by the end of January. Even got to take the car out for a quick photoshoot.
October/November 2022: After a tiring year, I was ready to slow down and start getting into off season time. I started to source parts from JP auctions. Found my GV hood, bumper, skirts, seats, all before off season even started haha. even got some laps with FrontStreet Josh to end my year off right lol.
2022 Highlight Reel:
2022 in a nutshell: Didnt really do much to the car besides buy a Tomei 2way diff, bikini top and change the ITB adapter. Drove ALOT this year. Street drove to Vibes drift in Erie, PA for a weekend of drifitng and it was probably the highlight of the year, even after I hit the jersey barrier chasing my friend Eric. Didnt get into SSE this year unfortunately, but that was the goal for 2023. Entered my first comp this year as well, didnt place but it was nicec to see how my car stacked up with others.
Winter 2021-2022: Car went under the knife and refreshed again. New wheels, ITBs installed and tuned, alignment and a nice reflective livery for good measure! this ITB adapter was ass but did the job. Showed signs of cracking and eventually I upgraded to the one I have now. On the dyno, the most the car made on full kill was 202 HP. After tuning for drivability and reliability, we ended at 193 hp. Tuned on 93 pump gas by Turbo Mike in MA.
June to October 2021: Drove the rest of the year with some occational set backs like a blown diff, broke an axle, and aero flying off but all were repaired within the week thankfully. Car was still my daily up until this winter.
May 2021: Finished sourcing my built motor parts and sent a spare block I found to the machine shop to get bored out. Got the phone call to pick it up the same week Final bout was in town for SSE at Thompson. So I decided to make a hail mary play and assemble it and drive the car to the event. Didnt happen but still got to spectate. I probably only have 1 picture from that weekend becasue of how much of a cluster fuck it was haha. Car got finished saturday night, drove it home, and it started pissing oil from the front and rear main seals. Also got around to painting my GV wing that same weekend.
March 2021: Drift season starts again. Ready to put 110% into driving and having a presentable car. Was lacking in the style department for sure but it was better than my shitty aero flying off every event.
May 2021: Sourced a set of Demon Cambers and they became my personality.
Winter 2020: With the season over, I decided to refresh the car again. My buddy Dustin planted the idea in my head for matching cars, so I went ahead and converted my car to NB2.
Winter 2020: I secured a new job! Which means I can now afford a cool new body kit to celebrate! I ended up with a Firefly speed shop NB Duce Kit from the UK.
March 2020: Covid just dropped along side the 2020 drift schedule for Lock City. I hit every event that year. Seat time was king in my book to progress my driving as much as I could.
November 2019: Blew my motor after installing new BC Coils. I was en route to a NEDCO event in New Hampshire and she let go after some rolling 2 step... All that neglected maintence really bit me in the ass...
November 2019: Pulled it out of my ass, but we got the car done the day before the event! No turbo, N/A power and the thing didn’t hiccup once. Even street drove it to the event and back! Car still looks ugly as sin though LOL.
Winter 2019-2020: Still daily drove this miata. Rain, Sleet, and snow this thing was ole faithful!
March 2018: After paying an arm and a leg to fix the diff, I had vowed to do all the work on this car myself. Took the car to a frame shop and they said '' its not worth pulling, but its also not gonna look good if you dont pull it.'' With that, I said screw it and drove around with my crooked front end lol. Finally got a set of coils and some obnoxious sized wheels and had fun with it. This was a turning point for me, I had always wanted to get into drifting but always had an excuse. But since the car was no longer ''too clean to drift'', I got to getting ready to hitting my first event.
September 2018: Still haven’t hit a drift event, but apparently had enough money for shitty mods like a battle aero wing and taped headlights haha.
October 2018: Hit my first drift event. Dont have any pictures on hand of this event, but it unlocked something inside me that wanted to continue to get better and just drive without stopping.
Winter 2018-2019: I bought a CX racing Turbo kit, FM stage 1 clutch and flywheel, megasquirt and went to town!
Figured I'd share my whole story starting from the humble beginnings since I have nothing to do at work right now lol.
August 2017: Freshly graduated from high school and just bought my Miata. Little did I know it was the start of a bad habit LOL. It was a completely stock car minus the sparco wheels the PO put on. The car was rust free and was at 87k miles when I bought it.
November 2017: After enjoying my new daily for a couple months, tragedy struck. My diff arm broke on the highway, and being an inexperienced driver with RWD, it sent me into a 360 into a jersey barrier. Cop that came to help swore up and down that I lost control street racing, when I was just on my way home from work haha. No one was hurt, but my baby was smashed and that’s what really killed me. The car was no longer clean, or straight.
this car is so sweet, definitely one of the coolest cars at bout this year. makes me want to get my four throttle setup totally dialed in
How to properly NB…looks great! Do you prefer the ITBs to the old boosted setup?
dang thats good power for stock head. any plans on building the head further?
